FABULOUS A+ BIOLOGY UNIT 3&4 SUMMARY NOTES!
« on: January 15, 2013, 02:23:44 pm »
I have compiled an entire summary of VCE Biology units 3 &4.
The notes are also suitable for those studying unit 1 & 2 (For you, these notes will merely be a more detailed and comprehensive set of notes in comparison to those you will be given in class).
I'm well aware that  VCAA has removed the mid year exams as of this year however the content is still the same and I have verified that with the updated Biology course outline.

My notes include...
-Macromolecules (Detailed description of water, including bonds, states, polarity and such)
- Organic molecules (Monomers, polymers, carbohydrates, proteins, structure, bonds, lipids, membrane, nucleic acids and such, in detail)
-Organelles, cell mechanisms (apoptosis, necrosis, diffusion, osmosis, active transport, bulk transport etc) with diagrams!!!
-Plant cell walls in detail (filaments, microtubles etc)
-Occluding, communicating and anchoring junctions
-Biochemical processes (exergonic reactions, endergonic reactions, photosynthesis, respiration)
-Metabolic pathways
-Catalysts
-Enzymes IN HUGE DETAIL (Properties, factors that effect it, structure, function)
-Electron transport chain
-Molecular biology (medical diagnosis and testing, electrophoresis, adenoviruses, retroviruses, probes, drug development)
-co-ordination and regulation - endocrine system
-Hormones, homeostasis
-Stimulus response models (receptors, effectors etc)
-Negative feedback, positive feedback
-Glucose in detail (insulin, glucagon, production, use etc)
-Plant hormones
-Nervous system (nerve cells, neurons, neuron pathways, transmitters, impulses etc)
-Comparison between endorcrine and nervous system
- Infection and disease (pathgoens, parasites, prions, vectors, viroids, antibiotics, protazoa, fungi, worms, host organisms)
-Immunity (first line of defence, secondline of defence, cytokines, third line of defence, b-cells, antibodies, t-cells)
-ENTIRE GLOSSARY for the ENTIRE BIOLOGY COARSE (more than 150 words and definitions)
- Chromosomes (structure, function, eukaryotic, prokaryotic and virus chromosomes)
-Macro mutations (deletion, inversion, insertion, translocation, duplication, point mutations)
-DNA in HUGE detail (components, structure, location, function, bonds, process of dna replication, gene expression, the ddna code, transcription, translation)
-Gene technology (ligase, recombinant dna, sticky and blunt ends, etc!)
-PCR (Polymerase chain reaction)
-Gene cloning
-Recombinant DNA technology (application, vextor example)
-DNA profiling
-DNA sequencing
-Gel electrophoresis in further detail (kb measurement, size arrangement of fragments and such)
-Cell devision in huge detail (nuclear division, mitosis, meiosis, crossing over, aneuploidy)
- Asexual and sexual reproduction (binary fission, budding, fragmentation)
-Inheritance (Genes and alleles)
-Genetic crosses (test cross, monohybrid cross, dihybrid crosses with examples)
-Co dominance
-Allele calculations
-Sex linked inheritance and application procedures (pedigrees, autosomal dominant pattern, autosomal recessive pattern, x-linked dominant pattern, x-linked recessive pattern)
-Polygenic inheritance
-Variation graphs
-Population genetics
-Structural, biochemical, physiological and behavioral variation
-Causes of variation
-Monomorphic, polymorphic, environmental variation
-Genes in a population
-Change agents in a population
-Allele frequency in a population
-Levels of selection
-Mechanisms of evolution
-Natural selection
-Migration
Genetic drift, founder effect, gene flow, non random mating
-Disequilibrium
-Evidence of evolution (fossil dating, comparitive anatomy, common ancestory, analogy, homology etc)
-Comparitive biochemistry (DNA sequencing, hybridization, mtDNA, protein analysis)
-Convergent and divergent evolution
-Theories (LaMarck and Darwin)
-Hominin evolution (classification, hominoids, change over time)
-Time line of eons, eras, epochs and events

I am happy to deliver to any location within Melbourne.
Please email me if you have any further questions and if you're interested in purchasing these notes.

I'm hoping that the diagrams in the notes you are selling have been made by yourself or have been reproduced with permission from the authors (mainly because you're selling them as opposed to making personal notes) otherwise we may have to remove this thread breaching copyright etc :)

Merged topic with previous (which was also a merge ironically).
