Music Psych Score Change Possible?

Hi Guys,
Based on my quiz scores I calculated that my 60% weighted essay got scored 70%. The comments for my essay were that:

"Minor punctuation & grammatical errors; good linking of the literature
back to your personal experience, however no suggestions for future
research were presented!"

Suggestions for future research made up almost a third of the overall criteria and hence, overall essay mark (which means I lost all my marks on not having future research suggestions). I read over my essay and its definitely there. I e-mailed the co-coordinator to meet up with her next Friday. Surely, this would be a case where I could ask them to remark it right (I read in the FAQ of the student directory that I cannot question the academic judgement of the marker or request for a re-mark because i think i deserve a higher grade; but that's exactly how I feel !!!)? I e-mailed her and asked her that she needs to have a look at it again and she was like "we'll see what we can do when we meet up". I'm quite annoyed that I have to go all the way to uni to get this resolved because some marker didn't mark my work properly T.T

Well things like that happen :( If you didn't discuss it in detail then you won't get any marks for it i.e. if you can't point out a paragraph where you discussed your research suggestions then you don't get marks. I'm assuming you briefly mentioned parts of it throughout the essay, I guess that's not sufficient to address the criteria.

Minor punctuation and grammatical errors? I cant believe this is even a criterion for this subject, clearly people must lose marks for something...

LOL way to go to make me feel better xD

No I'm pretty sure I was super DOOPER DOOOPER clear. 2 massive paragraphs on future suggestions for research... ahh well we'll see how it goes.  =(

One time I had one of these meetings over a H2B and the woman was like 'u put da semicolon where i think you should not have, no markz 4 u'.  Nothing else she had to say was valid at all.

My mark remained the same and I learnt a valuable lesson.  When people don't like you, grammar is everything.

This is ridiculous, has anyone used those essay checking services, flyers are everywhere on campus, could this prevent loss of marks over punctuation?

The thing with Arts subjects is, they don't need a reason for marking you down. It isn't maths or science. If they give you an H2B, it just means it isn't good enough to be an H1 or H2A, it doesn't mean that there's anything wrong with it. That's the frustrating thing about Arts.

Yeah, I hate that. My last tutor just wrote "very good" for full scoring blogs, and the same thing for blogs that scored 2/3. I guess it'd be kinda discouraging to be told your writing sux though.

Yeah, it's very hard to say exactly why one piece is better than another, but usually one will deserve a higher mark. The feedback they give you is more advice to work on rather than marks lost.

Yeah, I understand what you're all saying. But she specifically said that I didn't receive credit (all the marks deducted) were primarily because a section of my essay was 'supposedly not' present, when it definitely is. So hopefully after this week this can get resolved. I'm not overly flustered by the fact that I had some minor grammatical errors.

Did you get a criteria sheet with scores against it? Because if she said that "you lost marks for not XXX", she could still have taken off marks for other things/sections

The essay was broken up into a Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3. A few Marks were taken off for Part 1/Part 2 for miscellaneous reasons like spelling and grammar. However Part 3 I got a 0 for and in the comments she said "No part 3 presented". So Hopefully this week when I see her; I can receive marks for the Part 3 that was clearly there.

Hey were you at the Music and Health lecture today? Funny she mentioned that the discussion contributions can make a difference from 79 (your score) to 89, Im guessing they met the quota for H1's, thus the absurd justifications they gave you. Hell of a faculty wouldnt you say? Seems as though they found the old guy slumped over a park bench with a plastic bottle of diluted OJ.
