As part of our efforts to expand the VN userbase, we've made all the messageboards public. It was felt that if more people saw the community atmosphere going on, they'd be more inclined to post and be active. It also has the massive added advantage of google indexing every single post ever made on VN so people searching for highly specific VCE stuff on google will easily find us. It will also help our pagerank and is very good SEO to be entirely publically available.
If you have any personal details posted on boards that were previously private (stuff you might be worried is googlable) please edit/delete such posts accordingly.
Also, we're going to be taking a more proactive role in weeding out copyright infringement. We've never endorsed it, and have immediately taken down reported threads, but we haven't been as proactive as we could have been in the past. VN is becoming noticed by the commercial sector of the education industry (more on that at a later date), and we need to be a lot more accountable. A copyright lawsuit will sink this website.
Posting of copyright material is now a bannable offense (though you will of course get warnings etc.) and we will be proactively searching out and taking these threads down.
I know we'll never stop you guys from sharing these resources, and we can't exactly ban people if they put "PM me for VCE resources!" in their signatures because we have no way of knowing whether or not those resources are legally shareable and we're not the thought police! But anything in the public domain (e.g. posts, notes section) will be scrutinised harshly.
Feedback on this is very welcome, but please be constructive and not abusive.
