I don't have 50's in every subject, but I did the first 4 chapters of methods last summer holidays and it forced me to learn really comprehensively, which continued as I finished each chapter ahead of the class. Same story with all my other subjects, except methods was the only one I started before term 1.
I recommend working ahead because you can't continue with gaps in your knowledge, so it forces you to understand things very well, but through 'aggressive studying on the summer holidays ie; finishing the entire textbook for a subject' you run the risk of being too ahead, you have a whole year, why not use it? Keep ahead, but what are you going to do for terms 1 2 and 3 if you have done the textbook for a subject?

Don't do the whole textbook. Do may be the first few chapters, but it depends on the subject. If you do the whole textbook, there are 2 "bad" things I see about it:
1. You will forget content, especially for subjects other than Maths.
2. You will be exhausted from all that studying, and will probably walk in on the first day of year 12 being tired. NOT THE BEST THING TO DO AT ALL! =/

Methods - Do the first 4 chapters, as silverpixeli said. Depends on your textbook that you use. May be finish off Functions and Graphs, and possibly Algebra.
English - Read all your texts (including Context texts) at least once, may be twice.
Further - Do the exercises for Core, and begin constructing your Bound Reference.

Don't know about Chem/Physics and Eco. Sorry. =/

It's good to work ahead if you are feeling motivated.
Just don't starting thinking that you are at any disadvantage for not finishing 1/2 the course  or whole course on the holidays. By the end of year, to be honest there's probably going to be no difference between someone who has finished the course on the holidays and someone who has been regularly revising (maybe staying a few lessons ahead on school)....

I don't know what you mean by "Agressively studying".... sounds scary..

Do some work, enjoy holidays, review weaknesses in your 1/2s....

Take it easy :D.

Your school will probably set you some head start work to do. Other than that, I wouldn't advise doing too much else. Year 12 is a long year and you need to pace yourself through it. Use your holidays to rest up.

Do what you enjoy. Can never go wrong if you pick that option.

E.g, I finished every subject during the holidays back in VCE, not because I wanted to get ahead at school, I just liked what I was doing. To this day, holiday time is the time where I'm the most productive, I finish almost everything during the holidays because it's my hobby; I don't treat it as "study".

PhD @ MIT (Economics).

Haha, well I guess if you love studying, then go nuts!

How is it even humanly possible? Did you just work through the textbook or something for every single subject? How many hours a day did you study?

If you finished everything when you got back to school, what the hell did you do all year? lol.
