Summer School TSFX or TSSM?
« on: November 24, 2011, 09:52:53 pm »

Hi everyone,

I've been considering going to summer school before year 12 but I am unsure which TSFX or TSSM is better?
The subjects I'm considering to go to include:

- Specialist Maths
- Chemistry
- Physics

The reason I want to go is mainly to be exposed to the content before; so it sinks in quicker during school and I've also heard the notes are pretty decent for both which could be used throughout the semester.

Any help would be very much appreciated especially honest ones because I am very keen to do well next year. Let me know if its worth it! :)

can't really comment upon TSSM, never been to them before, however its known throughout high schoolers that TSFX provide great notes that supplement the course material really really well.
So, if your going for notes that summarise the course content in a good manner, go TSFX, however some lectures tend to get a tad long and boring ( depending upon the lecturer you have ) :D, this is just my personal opinion, however most to all lecturers are well informed and experts in their area of study, and are pretty friendly towards all students are usually always open to questions.

As for TSSM, hopefully someone who has been there can answer that question because i am considering going their for spesh.

Thanks Ravit. :) I agree on the 'tad too long' part. I know that the TSFX goes on for 3 days and Im scared that I'd hate the first session so much that I don't want to go to the rest... And then it'll just be a waste of money... But yes hopefully I get more opinions. :) thanks again for your input and yay go us for
doing spesh! :)

Hey nina_rox,
I would personally recommend TSFX for spesh as it contains and includes more stuff to go over so it will be very comprehensive but 10.5 hours(1.5 for exam material) sitting there would be a NUT. TSSM are pretty good but still if you could, then go for TSFX.
For chemistry, I recommend you to attend Access Education as the length of lecturing just contain approx 3 hours and will go through the topics cover in Unit 3 plus question. The reason I advise you for Access Education chem lecture is because there is a lecturer named Chris Dwyer as he is a professional in chemistry and his lecturing wouldn't be boring and u will be shocked by his teaching style and knowledge.
As for physics, try NEAP as I heard their science subject are way more efficient and beneficial than other company.
You should buy some study guides and go through it during this holiday and it will cost you much cheaper to pay. Why pay so much to attend the lecture that's so long and time wasting as most of the study guides can give you more details and tricks/skills than the lecturer could give to you. Even though I should admit that I need motivation to study, so I prefer lecture sometimes but I still wish to study the books as you will expose to more info from various books rather than one lecturer(unless you attend many for one subject)Hope that will help you and good luck:D

TSFX ALL THE WAY.
Personally, I think tsfx is more professional, the notes are more comprehensive and tabulated so you can use them for revision throughout the year. The lecturers were experts too.
I have been to tssm classes for health and it wasn't up to tsfx standard. But that's health so it might be good still i guess (TSSM - The school for Specialised maths? or something lol).
Be warned any summer school program is looooong and will fry your brain. :D
Happy enough after one hell of a year.

No worries :)
But you can trust that he knows what he's doing all the time.
Derrick Ha achieved all perfect score in his subject except englang 47
coz he is doing 7 subjects but aggregate is still the highest in that year
comparing in Victoria(not 100% sure coz  his aggregate was 214+)
