SPOILER ALERT:

Guys who have not done this exam shield your eyes from a potentially erroneous answer!

I did the exam and thought that you guys did a great job! But now that I finished it I really want to know if the answer to the last question is censored?

Just so they don't miss it. :P

Could you edit your post to censor that? :) You too Tony :P hehhehh :)
But in any case, I'll PM you the answer :)

Not that I struggled too much with the question, but if someone could answer these for me:
a) Can they ask stuff like sin^2 (x)? I haven't encountered these before in past exams (haven't done THAT many), nor in any SACs or anything
b) How do you do this on CAS? I was trying to check my answer, and when I put Q4 into my CAS, it gave me some random numbers, not general solutions
c) When working out general solutions, for example (random example)
x= 2npi + pi/2, n E Z
Do you need to then simplify that to
x= (4n+1)pi/2
Re: Silly things you did during the exam..
I accidentally wrote a really shit context essay, oh wai-

English (33>31)
called it

sin^2 (x) is simply (sin(x))^2 :)

No

And Paul likes the "off-field" trig for methods students:
^^ Let's hope there's a question like that on exam 1 :P
But something like this ' f(x + y) and f(x – y)' we're suppose to know anyway cos it's like a property of the trig graphs?

I think that's the kind of question we will get, but then and again, I hope we get something like 2sin(x)cos(x) = 1 on Exam 1 :D :D
*imagines all the non-spesh people struggling* :P

Please don't make exams, my head began to hurt after I saw the sin^4 and thought... I've seriously failed methods.
Haven't decided...

Following the release of the Puffy Publications - Methods Exam 1, solutions available tomorrow, Exam 2 is still in the works - Multiple Choice is taking longer than expected, but ETA - Early Next Week! :)

Anyway, even though Methods Exam 2 isn't ready, the Puffy Publications - Specialist Maths Exam 1 is ready for release, just waiting on myself and Luffy to do the exam to ensure there aren't any errors, and then just final formatting, ETA - 8:00PM Friday 14/10/2011

Stay Tuned! :)

Hey guys, sorry for the delays with the solutions, but typing them up is taking longer than expected, so tonight, or tomorrow night definately, but they are proper worked solutions with a marking scheme :)
Once again, sorry about the delays everyone :)

Hey Paulsterio and Luffy,
Just skimmed through the questions and I just have to laugh at the names involved
Seems like a pretty hard exam, will try to finish it
Good work though, hope exam 2 won't have and minor errors =]

I'm typing them up right now, but yeah, I do feel slightly unprofessional delaying it, but, I'll make a similar thread to Thushan's where people can post up their mark and I'll try to make grade cut-offs...etc :)

I don't think that is appropriate at all to be honest:
-the majority of people doing this and posting their scores would be the from the top, 20% (guessing) of all the people doing methods. As such, it is kind of wrong to make grades based on that, especially as an exam

tl;dr, i dont want to embarass myself LOL

Well everyone, SOLUTIONS - Here they are (:

I will also upload them on the opening post so they're easier to find too (:

- Sorry, once again, for the delay - Enjoy! :)

Please let me know what you guys think of the solutions - so I know how to improve for Exam 2! THANKS!

There's still an error on Question 11
It should read:

, (forgot the a on the RHS)
(Thanks xZero) :)
