Oh ok, thanks so much, it's just Monash texted me on Monday straight away, so I assumed I got nothing from Melbourne!! Thanks for some reassurance even if I don't end up with anything :)

Monash decided it'd be cool to send my scholarship so that I would get it two hours after change of preference closed...

Hey guys, I'm asking this on behalf of a friend. What ATAR would usually be needed to get granted the Melbourne National Equity Scholarship with SEAS (for receiving youth allowance)?

hey guys, i was offered both melbourne and monash scholarships. i am wanting to study medicine in monash, but i am not sure if i will pass the interview. am i allowed to place monash medicine as preference 1 and melbourne biomedicine (chancellors) as preference 2? and if i do not get monash, will i still get the full chancellor's scholarship for melbourne? or do they make you choose?

Look, I'm not too sure about the preferences thing, best to call up VTAC or wait for another response here. From word of mouth, if you can go up to the interviewer and say "Hello, I'm here for the Chancellor's Scholarships interviews for MD. Do you know where they are held?" in a decent, understandable accent and not sounding super nervous, you'll pass the interview.

Hmmm, I didn't know the Union collected reviews of subjects. On that note, I have to go erase my marks and some anecdotes for my subject reviews on AN...

The 2013 handbook entry for ANAT20006 lists '2 semesters of 1st year Biology' as pre-requisites - but apparently that changes in 2014 with requirements shifting to only biol10004&biol10005. I did biol10001 instead of biol10004 going by information presented in the 2013 manual, and built my course plan with respect to the 2013 entry.

I emailed the coordinator about it and I should get the ok (same deal with PHYS20008 and Charles Sevigny already said it's fine) but my online study planner is still precluding me from enrolling.

Is this a job for the student science centre people?

Cheers.

You need to get a form (prerequisite waiver) and you have to go to the SSC and get it done manually, yes.

Assuming I get into BSci at UoM, there is a subject called "Accelerated Maths 1" that I really want to do. The problem is that it requires a 38 in specialist maths and I only scored a 37.

I love maths and I really want to do this subject, especially since I feel that my VCE maths scores do not truly reflect what I was capable of and I feel like I need to prove myself. Basically all of the marks I lost in the specialist maths course were on the tech-assist exam, and universities don't even have a tech-assist exam, so I feel as if this isn't a fair way of judging how well I will do in university maths, which is all tech-free.

How flexible is UoM on this? Will they still let me do Accelerated Maths 1?

^ its very flexible. they have tests for people who didnt score the 38 to take before the semester starts. you'll find out when and where and stuff during academic advice day. :) i havent a clue what would be on it though. otherwise, since you're so,so close to the requirement, you could proably get away with emailing liz bailey/paul norbury and just ask them. ^^
am1 was so much fun btw!! paul is so entertaining :'D

This is very pleasing to hear :) I fell 2 points short on literature last year and I already paid the price for that, so I would feel shattered if I missed this opportunity by just 1 point.

I would be more than willing to take an entry test if they want me to. If I still don't get in, my backup plan is to do Calculus 2 and Linear Algebra in first semester, followed by Real Analysis in second semester. That should cover the same topics as Accelerated Maths 1 & 2.

Don't do AM1 or 2 unless you want to do Math/Physics/Actuarial major. I've seen 45-50 spec student fail from the increased pace. And you'll probably score better if you just take Linear Algebra, Calc 2 and Real Analysis, as well as get a better understanding of the topics if you take it over 3 subjects instead of 2.
