UMAT 2010 Question Thread

Hey all,

Thought I'd start a thread where you can post any UMAT practise questions you don't understand, plus it will be of great benefit for all who are taking the UMAT this year and in the furure.

I want to start with this question.  I think that option C: Grey, is a perfectly legitimate answer but medentry says the answer is D: Any colour other than Black or Brown.

Option C definitely fits the requirement of the question being 'At least one is lying and at least one is telling the truth.'
Are actual UMAT questions this ambiguous?

Section 1 isn't about finishing it. I skipped the last 10 questions altogether, guessed a heck of a lot of them (e.g. there was a question stem which I didn't really know how to approach, and ended up skipping the 5 or so questions that accompanied it) and ended up with 95 percentile anyway. Accuracy is far more important. Find the questions that you are able to do, get them right, and move on.

i still haven't done any prac exams yet, just drills.  i'm nowhere near ready.
according to medentry im in 40-60 percentile for the exam we did there :(

every section annoys me to an extent.  two is usually not too bad unless i have to read a really long passage that has nothing to do with doctors, or you get 4 alternatives which are virtually the same.  three i like except for that pick the middle crap, and section one just kills me.  problem solving is ridiculous.  data interpretation is okay at times, but when you have to test out each answer and it involves maths it just takes too long...

how bout everyone else?   got back any medentry percentiles yet?

My advice is to ignore section 2 prep altogether. You are NOT going to improve in it at all from practice from my experience.

i quite like the pick the middle questions. the complete the sequence ones are a pain, some of the patterns they use are ridiculous.

i'm only doing the prac exams since i do one every month and not going to bother with the drills, i did one today as it's been time:)

yeahh i hate the umat so much, section 3 i hate the most though that kills me especially pick the middle - so fustrating haha. and a lot of section 1 is just the worst. except for some reason it's my best section and i struggle so much to complete on time? i got 80%ile for that section and 70%ile for section 3.. and then much lower for section 2 even though i find it easiest and finish it wtih like 20min to spare ;O

maybe i'll do an exam this week to see how i'm going percentile wise.  the worst thing about doing prep is going through the answers afterwards.  so laborious.

i'll print if off, do it, then punch in the answers.  i cant stand scrolling up and down between the stimulus and question a million times lol.
