Study Score?

I do fervently pray that the second exam will be extremely difficult. No, seriously, if the exam is difficult and everybody screws up then the ones who can do it (hopefully, I'll be among them) will benefit, since stupid mistakes will not be as bad. For some reason beyond my control, I screwed up one multiple choice (I retried it and had no problem with it), and I lost a further 2 marks in the question related to the bunsen burner thing and 1 mark in the last explanation question. Does anyone know what the answer was for the bunsen burner question (why distillation flask should not be heated using a bunsen burner)? I checked my book and there is nothing related to that question (Heinemann), and even my teacher did not know the answer (not that he is any good, but still). Hell, was it even on the study design? Seriously, man, I hate explanation questions, I never know how much to put in.

I wrote that the heat would not be able to be easily controlled and would fluctuate unlike a heating bath (cant remember what its called) and I got full marks for that one

I wrote that the heat could not be altered and got full marks

How did you guys know this? Besides, I still don't quite understand how that would affect the result of distillation. I hate to admit this but this is a hole in my knowledge. I just simply know the principle behind it, but nothing related to its implementation, but darn, there's nothing in the book that's related to this, and that's just wrong. I was kind of hoping that everyone would fluke this question.

Yeh Biol is weird, I was talking to a girl from my school who got a 50 in 2008 and she got 65/75 and then 73/75..

It was my first VCAA exam so i was freaking out just a little thanks for restoring my confidence haha

Well, duh, of course I know that. What I meant was that how could you be aware that kind of obscure knowledge.

Don't worry too much. This year's Bio exam is hard, so not many people would get a higher score than yours. It all comes down to ranking, so if you ace the end of year exam, high 40 is entirely possible. Regardless, if you tried your best, then there should be nothing to be ashamed or regretful about.

It happened to me in a SAC... the bunsen burner heated the mixture too hot and it went a sludgy black colour....so it was lucky our SAC didnt work because it helped with that question

They were actually fairly lenient with that question I think.  I wrote that the heating was not uniform and that the heating intensity could not be controlled.  I got full marks for that question.

Whilst I wasn't sure of the answer they were looking for, I wrote what I, intuitively, considered relevant.
