in yr 10 and worryiung about VCE. already..

lol reminds me back when I was in yr 9 and a girl was already doing super-early-English-preparation by reading Jane Austen books and trying to sound smart by saying how wonderful they were... then went on about how each day should be spent towards thinking about VCE o_o ...

but then again maybe she did like genuinely reading those books and to me she was a "all work no play" type of person

uuuggghh! i know one of them too. Anyone bellow year 10 that thinks they have read a literature studies book probably just watched the movie then memmorised some quotes of sparknotes...

actualy, now that i think of it, that's my exact study regime.

bio is really interesting, so it's enjoyable to learn
content is not too bad to learn, it's just the application that hurts.
i didn't do perfectly, but still managed A+ A+ A+ by just progressing through the year, starting revising content 60 days before each exam and starting practice exams ~1 month before the actual exam, maybe 3 a week and then 1 a day getting closer.
thats what i did :) ask me other questions if you'd like

yes, i could still have got 40 if i was doing another year 12 subject last year, i plan to get at least 2 raw 40's this year :)

Picking Chinese, underestimated how much work was involved in detailed study and general convo and crap teacher.
Not working hard enough in Unit 3. Many disappointing SAC results, and disgraceful mid year result for chem.
Not doing a hard subject like Methods or Chinese in Year 11.
Didn't work as hard as i could have for Accounting last year.

LOL. my biggest mistake thus far... was my very first Unit 3 Accounting SAC... I thought it was going to be a breeze... as it turned out I just passed (60% or something) and that gave me reality check. I now value the importance of my 3/4 subject over my 1/2 subjects...

ON the contrary, SINCE the start of the year I've worked harder than I ever have for ONE subject. I got around average of ~85% on SACs (with a pretty strong cohort - no one in my class got lower than an A in the mid-year exam) and I ended up with an A for the mid-year exam as well (which wasn't that bad). I'm still hoping my goal of 40+ in Accounting is possible.

ANY tips?... I heed the advice given by andrewloppol and that can hopefully get me a SS of 40 or higher!

I was pretty much in the same position as you last year, got A for mid year in a strong cohort and averaged around 86% for SACs too.

I started to lose motivation, but then, i realised i didnt want to waste this whole year and this subject, and to get something out of it.

So i worked hard for Unit 4. Particularly for the end of year exam, i started revising in the september holidays, so by the time the november exam came, i was just touching up on my theory. End result: A+ and 40 raw.

imma going to do 6 vce subjects, is that a good amount? and will doing 5 subjects in yr 12 be stressful?
ill probs regret going to a school that does not have methods 3 4 in yr 11, cause i totally could have coped with it and had room for UMEP in yr 12.
and ill regret choosing bio cause its so hard.  :buck2:

I dislike reading though, frankly speaking. It's hard for a good novel to come by. Reading textbooks/mags aren't that bad...

I just had to say THE VAMPIRE ACADEMY SERIES are like SERIOUSLY AWESOME BOOKS! hahaha im obsessed :P but then again...mags and textbooks are awesome too :P hehehe
You still learn in mags as well ;D

I LOVE VAMPIRE ACADEMY TOOOOOO!
EEW. TWILIGHT

Have you read the book that just came out btw? (Spirit bound)

I agree, Vce is all about minimizing your mistakes. The difference between a 45 and 50 is so small that mistakes are usually the defining thing

-runs away-

I can't believe you don't like harry potter! and that you would group it in with "twilight and those series"

xD I have some automatic urge that makes me worry about English SACs 2-3 weeks before they happen. But not for other subjects.
