ya i totes wants a 99.99 :D
nah, that doesn't even exist!

tbh, i dont think the actual number is important, more like as long as it's the one that was the best you could achieve, if ya get me.

Earlier this year I would have said it would mean something I could be proud of, even just until uni starts. But after a year of sickness, all it means is entry into my course!

2009-2010: VET Multimedia | Methods CAS | English | Legal Sudies | National Politics | Accounting | VET IT

2011-2013: BBIS at Monash - IBL Stream

Semester 1: Principles of Accounting & Finance | Computer Programming | Business Information Analysis | Intro. to Business Information Systems

I guess whatever stage of our life we are in, we will always be face be a minority that doubt us in some way, shape or form. You just have to keep on fighting it on and show them that your worth is more than your ATAR score, that you are simply more than a robot who works continuously day and night, that you are someone who actually has feelings and emotions.

Seeing as I only really started caring about school way too late (end of year 11) I couldn't give a rats ass what I get (as long as I get into 1/top2 of my prefs which is ~90 fml lol).

Asian parents? LOL

Hm i reckon its a good accomplishment for the end of schooling, To move on with life on a good note. But also of course to get into the course you wanted to. But pretty much after we get into uni, ATAR's wont even matter.

I really hate it that my family associate people with enter scores =="
They'll be like "do you want to end up like that person who got 60s?" or "work hard and get 90s so you can be successful like that other person". For that reason, i don't even want to tell my family my atar score just to avoid being used as an example for something. Is that bad?  :-[

This makes me sad :( It can be hard to remember that our scores do not define us! I'm sorry that your parents are like this :(

i know exactly how this feels
come from an asian family with high expectations. getting into ur course isnt enough, need to have a high ATAR for boasting factor =.=

ROFL, so you think. In my family, atar scores are remembered like names. Every1 remembers your atar score and mentions it even 10 years later in everyday conversations!

to my parents:
high atar= children raised well by parents

i have conflicting beliefs with my parents so it really sucks that they never understand where im coming from.

When I have children, I vow to let them follow their dreams, whatever they may be and not let them get weighed down by the pressure of achieving a high ATAR.

Unfortunately my first 3 preferences all require 90+ ATAR's, and one of them in the high 90s, so it is important to an extent.

But I don't need that extra push for 99.90.

I'm sure if I had worked hard all year I would definitely be capable of it, but there is really no need, plus I've managed to achieve some other things through the year which will mean more for me :)

Otherwise it is to allow my mum to give a big fuck you to all my family friends who will undoubtedly give a call just to "catch up" on the day of results.

First of all entry to course.

Then a scholarship.

Initially I was aiming for 99.95, to get the best scholarship - $60,000 worth(12,000 pa.).

But that is too unrealistic, so I don't need that high.

Other than this, ATAR means nothing. Whilst there is some correlation between high ATAR scores and high intelligence, it is not a very good test, I believe.
