Nothing but entrance to my course. What the hell else could it mean to someone?

+1.

An ATAR is not a representation of who you are, your personal achievements (and I must awfully admit, personality. I know of an extremely rude person who scored 99 who bragged. Like, literally a boast festival... you know). Other than that, it could reflect on one's hard working habits in order to achieve a high score. Sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it does.

=/ I don't see the point of talking about ATAR anymore now that VCE is over. But I guess I can understand the bragger - he must be extremely proud of his ATAR score, and it can be hard to restrain from bragging when you have that mindset.

Nah this appeared up when someone commented recently so I thought to add an opinion to it.

I guess I'm proud of the ATAR score I achieved, especially considering the fact that I went a very average school. But I'm casual about it normally, I tell people what I got if they ask me but never brag.

After all, there are many other facets of life besides academic achievement.
The Finnish word pilkunnussija, which translates literally to “comma fucker,” is someone who risks his social wellbeing to annoyingly and persistently point out punctuation errors.

Completed VCE in 2010 - Now doing BSc at UoM

Untrue. First week of uni people use ATAR to judge how smart you are.
Wow if anyone actually uses the ATAR to judge how "smart" you are, they are pretty superficial and I would avoid them.
