ATAR is an acronym for Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank. All states have moved to this name and some, such as NSW, have actually had a change on their scoring system. (Under the UAI(old NSW 'enter') it was possible to get 100 and there were some discrepancies in the population which you are ranked against).

For Victoria it was simply a name change, as they move forward with the national curriculum.

I don't really care what my atar is to be honest. I'd like a 95.4+ so that I can stay competitve at UWS and UNCLE med but I won't mind too much if it isn't good enough, I lost all interest in VCE a while ago.

@ stonecold, do sci then nonstandard utas uncle uws with me :D.

atar means jack shit to me since getting into my dream course is over, so thanks to one number, i now get to add another 2 years minimum to get where I want to be...

ever since i got my umat mark back, i just stopped giving a shit...there was no point stressing or trying too much anymore, because it wasn't going to make any difference...
I feel your pain....

My ATAR means whether I get a Scholarship to Monash or not.. Judging by the way exams are going, it seems like its fading away. Guess I'll just settle for an entrance, bearing in mind that I'm one of the few fortunate people able to attend University to study the course I want.
